- Two of the best performances I’ve seen all year from Frances McDormand & Sam Rockwell, both of which are very Oscar worthy. This is the best work I’ve ever seen from McDormand, which says a lot if you’ve seen “Fargo”, the emotion that comes from her is heart wrenching and she makes you feel it all through her great performance.
- Good performances by Woody Harrelson, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Hedges, Zeljko Ivanek & Peter Dinklage.
- Oscar level direction by Martin McDonagh. McDonagh has once again shown why he’s one of the best working today & after this one has officially solidified himself as one of my favorites.
- The biggest highlight of this whole film though is the amazing screenplay by Martin McDonagh. McDonagh does a stunning job at creating such unique characters, while also having some very interesting social commentary. Don’t even get me started on the dialogue in this film, it truly is some of the best back and forth dialogue I’ve ever heard. McDonagh just might have claimed the title of the best screenwriter working today after this one, don’t be surprised if you see him picking up some Oscar gold when March comes around.
