Murder on the Orient Express – Movie Review

Rating: B

  • Kenneth Branagh is fantastic as detective Poirot. Branagh is constantly chewing the scenery, as well as delivering a performance with a strong quippy feel. He delivers golden line after golden line and truly becomes the detective.
  • Other notable performances from Daisy Ridley, Josh Gad & Johnny Depp.
  • For the most part solid direction from Kenneth Branagh. I applaud him very much for shooting this in 65mm.
  • A at points solid screenplay by Michael Green , it builds a couple of the characters to perfection.
  • As I said before the 65mm really shows & is gorgeous, very high praise to the cinematography by Haris Zambarloukos.

  • Some plot points are a little far fetched, that I couldn’t completely buy into.
  • At the end of the day there isn’t enough screen time for all the characters of this big ensemble cast, and because of that not all the characters are fully developed and fall into the background, which makes you not care about them at all.
